This is an excerpt from the film “J20&J21_#Disrupt and Resist This piece is from the #DisruptJ20 was a collective of activists who came together in Washington D.C. for a series of mass protests to shut down the inauguration ceremonies of Donald Trump on January 20th, 2017. Beginning in the early morning of the inauguration, #DisruptJ20 held direct actions at each of the security checkpoints leading to the entry of the inaugural parade route and the commencement ceremony. Groups of activists who risked arrest to block attendance to the Trump inaugural ceremonies included: The Movement for Black Lives Checkpoint Blockade, The Future is Feminist Checkpoint Blockade, Climate Justice Checkpoint Blockade, Qockblockade Brigade: Queer Checkpoint Blockade, Labor Justice Checkpoint Blockade, Showing Up For Racial Justice Checkpoint Blockade and Communities Under Attack Checkpoint Blockade. At noon, the Festival of Resistance march began at Union Station and arrived at McPherson Square by 3pm, where #DisruptJ20 had an ongoing presence all day. Numerous autonomous actions in solidarity with #DisruptJ20 happened throughout DC, including the anti-capitalist bloc, Workers World Party marches, a march by Refuse Fascism blocking Route 395, and many others.
